Artist Bio

Chelsea Elizabeth is a native of North Carolina and is currently based in Raleigh, NC.  Her love for creating as a small child carried into her adulthood.  In recent years she has developed her artistic style in a way that adds a defined purpose to her final composition.

Her main artistic style is best defined as a mix of geometric abstraction and hard edge style with influences from the Constructivism art movement.  More specifically, Representational Geometric Abstraction Interpretationalism.  She enjoys the outdoors as its vibrant colors and unique patterns provide her with inspiration for her next piece.

About me and my art

People always ask me when I started painting, to which I reply, "I never stopped".

My desire to create is influenced by the idea of simplification.  When I see a breathtaking landscape I don't want to paint it because it's "really pretty".  I want to visually reconstruct the shape of its trees, hills, flowers, or ponds in a way that complements the colors of the sky when pollutants in the earths atmosphere scatters sun rays that paint the sky pink, and purple only to leave a hint of blue.  I enjoy the challenge of simplifying the organized chaos that are the elements of nature and even more so, that is the world around us.

The presence of lines, shape, color, and form seen in a vibrant, tropical landscape is extremely similar to those found in an item someone might find more dull such as a large rock seen while hiking.  For me, neither of these inspirations are dull. Reconstructing the elements of these visual inspirations gifted by nature in a way where the end product allows me to view its composition and think "Oh this is good", is a challenge that I love to accept.

I invite you to explore my collection of art and to consider viewing a few pieces with the idea that sometimes, less is enough.
